GNMA: GNMA (Government National Mortgage Association) is a U. S. government corporation that guarantees the payment of principle and interest on certain mortgage loans.
The Government National Mortgage Association (GNMA) is also called Ginnie Mae.
GNMA buys home mortgages from financial institutions and sells them to investors as mortgage backed securities.
GNMA securities are the only mortgage backed security that are guaranteed by the full faith and credit of the U. S. Government.
